The Instantograph Wooden Bellows 1/2 Plate Camera by J. Lancaster of Birmingham

£325.00

The Instantograph Wooden Bellows 1/2 Plate Camera by J. Lancaster Birmingham

By optician and camera makers J Lancaster and Sons of Birmingham, UK.
Dating from around 1891.
Made of mahogany with brass fittings.

The glass plate measures 6 1/2 inches by 4 3/4 inches.

No holes or splits to the leather tapered bellows that I can find.

There is fading particularly to the creases and folds.

The corners of the bellows have had the edges taped to strengthen them.

The wooden body shows a lovely depth of colour and patina gained over the years.

There are the usual scuffs and scratches that you would associate with an item of this age.

The brass work seems to be complete and in working order with some tarnishing in places.

The camera extends and folds away easily.

It is fitted with a “Bausch and Lomb” shutter which appears to be in working order.

The handle to the top is in good condition and well attached.

Displays two ivorine plaques to the top “The Instantograph Patent” & “J. Lancaster & Son, Birmingham”.

Good overall condition for it’s age and I think in usable condition.
