Houghton Victo Folding Bellows Half-Plate Field Camera From Around 1900

Houghton Victo Folding Bellows Half-Plate Field Camera From Around 1900

The ‘Victo’ is a folding half-plate field camera made by Houghton from about 1898

This early model is equipped with a Thornton-Pickard roller shutter with, I think, either an Ensign or a Beck f8 lens.

Everything works, it opens and folds, the bellows are in good condition with no leaks that I can see.

The lens is fairly clear and the aperture blades are clean and move freely.

The shutter works but needs a a replacement pull cord.

Most of the knobs are present with only the front rise and fall locking knob missing.

The ground glass focussing screen is in very good condition and the leather carry handle is in good condition also.

I can’t find any damage to the wood casing or the metalwork.

Serial number stamped into the base is 5380.

A nice example of an antique camera in lovely condition that can still be used today.
