J Lancasters Thornton Pickard Design Folding Bellows Quarter-Plate Field Camera
This folding quarter-plate field camera designed by Thornton Pickard and marketed by J. Lancaster & Son of Birmingham in around 1896 (see the last few pictures of plaques and markings).
Everything works, it opens and folds, the bellows are in good condition with no leaks that I can see..
The lens is clear with very little dust. It doesn’t have an iris but has a slot for aperture masks.
All of the knobs seem to be present and in working order.
The ground glass focussing screen is in very good condition.
I can’t find any damage to the wood casing or the metalwork.
There is a certain amount of wear and marks from use.
A nice example of an antique camera in lovely condition.
